Chicago Dog and Deli opened its doors in Savannah on February 26, 2007. Joe, the Owner, purchased the first Chicago Dog and Deli in Des Moines Iowa in 1994 and was voted the best hot dog in Des Moines by the City View newspaper. Joe sold the restaurant in 2003 and reopened in Bennington Nebraska, a small town outside of Omaha. Joe decided to leave the cold North and found his new home in Savannah. He immediately opened Joe's Chicago Style Hot Dogs in the River Street Market Place in February of 2006. Wildly successful in that location, locals asked when are you going to open a restaurant on the South Side? The answer came one year later with the very popular Chicago Dog and Deli.
